Penny joined the staff at Church of the Resurrection on January 1, 2009 as a Congregational Care pastor. In August of 2010 she became the campus pastor for Resurrection Blue Springs.
Penny and her husband, Bill have lived in the Kansas City area for the past 25 years, raising their three children; a daughter and two sons. As a stay at home mother, Penny spent many years serving in the local church as a lay person before pursuing her call to ministry. She and Bill were active members at Broadway UMC in the Waldo area for 19 years where she served as a lay volunteer on many committees and directed the LOGOS ministry, a mid-week ministry for children and youth for 12 years before moving into the position of Director of Educational Ministries in 2000 and Associate Pastor in 2005. She was also active on a national level in The LOGOS Ministry, serving as a team leader and trainer for their leadership events. In 2006, she took her first pastorate at Longview UMC in K.C. MO, where she served two and a half years before coming to Resurrection. While serving at Longview, Penny was responsible for planning and leading worship, developing programs for all ages and helping the church reclaim its vision to reach out to the community through mission and service.
Penny has a biology degree from Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS and a Masters of Divinity from Saint Paul School of Theology. Penny and her husband, Bill are committed to the ministry of the United Methodist Church and feel blessed to be a part of a congregation where the wind of the spirit is blowing.
